Focus Group Input on EFC Master Plan
Between October 1999 and October 2000, participants in ten Eagle Fern Camp (EFC) focus groups have provided input for use by the EFC Staff and Board of Directors in their development of EFC’s long term master plan. A Summary Digest is available on-line now. The first draft of EFC’s Master Plan is due out in November 2000, for public comment and input. Once it is out, you can pick up a copy at an Eagle Fern Camp display at one of our member churches or print it off our website here or call the EFC office at (503) 630-4978.

Celebrate EFC’s 48th Summer Camping Season!
Celebrate the spiritual impact of EFC’s Summer 2000 ministry! 847 campers and over 260 volunteers, 23 TCLers, 8 Summer Staff, and our year-round staff team experienced God’s amazing blessings on our 48th summer of fruitful ministry. Over 73 campers were saved, at least 79 renewed their commitments to follow Christ!!!  A full breakdown of Summer 2000 Statistics is further down on this page.  For the over 23% of our campers who come from non-Christian homes, EFC may be the only place they hear the Word of Life, and feel and see the love of God’s redeemed people. It’s no wonder so many people find Christ at camp! Thank you for your part in our shared ministry at Eagle Fern Camp! It’s a pleasure serving with you!

EFC Shifts into Retreat Season Ministry
Eagle Fern Camp’s ministry has shifted into Retreat Season gear! Nine months of the year, EFC provides quality facilities and services to church and youth groups, Christian and public schools, various community groups and ministries. It’s great to hear God’s Word being taught and caught, people turning to Christ, and tuning in to their Creator at EFC all year long! We love being a part of building up Christ’s church every season of the year! If your group is planning a retreat, give us a call at (503) 630-4978 to find out how Eagle Fern Camp can meet your needs!

New Hilltop Shop Almost Complete!
Eagle Fern Camp’s new shop is rapidly nearing completion! We appreciate all of you who helped us build the Hilltop Shop over the summer!  We look forward to moving maintenance operations out of the center of camp, and expanding EFC’s offices and food storage. (Remodel scheduled to begin in December.). All to better serve YOU!

Report on Purchase of Neighboring Property
It’s been said, ’The Lord works in mysterious ways.’ And it’s so often true. Recently, a couple who attend Eastgate Bible Chapel and who are very involved with Eagle Fern Camp sensed the Lord leading them to buy the property EFC was pursuing for a small retreat facility. Part of their vision is to develop a retreat ministry in cooperation with EFC. Their offer has been accepted and the deal is set to close in October. As we indicated when we asked for your help in July, we will contact everyone who has contributed or pledged to this project, giving you the option of rolling over your gift to another project at Eagle Fern Camp, or a refund. If you have any questions, please call Kevin Williamson, EFC Executive Director, at 630-4978.

News from Summer, 2000

Hilltop Shop Update
Per Eagle Fern Camp's facilities development plan, we have begun building a new shop building in the maintenance yard, located halfway between the cabins and the barn.

On July 29, over 13 volunteers and Dave Eymann, EFC's Facilities Manager, built most of the structure in preparation for the outer sheeting (see pictures below).  Thank you!

EFC's shop project goals are:

  1. To complete the Hilltop Shop by October 2000.
  2. Move all maintenance operations out of the Staff Building in the center of camp and into the Hilltop Shop by December 2000.
  3. Remodel the vacated shop bays in the Staff Building into interim office space by February 2001. These areas will be used for class and conference rooms once the offices are relocated.

Moving our maintenance operations out of the Staff Building up to the Hilltop Shop will improve the safety, aesthetics, and traffic congestion in the center of camp. It will also open up valuable areas for much needed office and classroom space.

If you would like to help us with this project, please call the Eagle Fern Camp office at (503) 630-4978, ask for Dave Eymann to volunteer, or ask for Kevin Williamson if you are interested in making a donation to help Eagle Fern Camp with this project.
